Puig Can Fluxa

Puig Can Fluxa is a century-old finca on a hillside at Santa Eulalia, on the east side of Ibiza, renovated in the island's traditional country style. The house looks out over open countryside, and at the end of the day the sunset lights up its terraces.

This is a house of thick walls, wooden ceilings and bougainvillea, with the relaxed feel of a home that has belonged to the island for generations. Mornings start on one of the terraces while the countryside is still in soft light, the afternoon moves between the pool and the shade, and the evening belongs to the table outside, with the town and the sea only a few minutes away.

Ibicenco architecture, renovated with care

Thick walls and wooden ceilings, the hallmarks of traditional Ibiza architecture, keep the rooms pleasantly cool in summer and snug when the weather turns. You enter on the lower floor, straight into a bright living and dining room with a fireplace and satellite TV, furnished for comfort rather than show. The fitted kitchen, with its gas cooker, is ready for anything from a slow breakfast to a family dinner, and a second living room on the same level gives everyone space to spread out. Marble stone heaters and the closed fireplace make the finca just as comfortable in spring, autumn and winter.

Bedrooms arranged over two floors

The bedrooms are set over the two storeys of the house. On the lower floor they share a bathroom and sit close to the second living room, which suits children or friends travelling together. Upstairs, the master bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom and air conditioning that cools in summer and warms in winter: a private retreat above the rest of the house.

Terraces, pool and a garden of native plants

The grounds are fully fenced and planted with trees and native Mediterranean species, bougainvillea and oleander among them. Two terraces around the house and a third beside the pool give you a choice of sun or shade at any hour. The pool terrace is where the day unfolds; the house terraces are where dinner is served, often with the sunset colouring the countryside and the music system playing quietly in the background.

Santa Eulalia and the east coast

The centre of Santa Eulalia, with its port, beaches, restaurants and shops, and the sea are about five to eight minutes' walk from the finca. Ibiza Town, a World Heritage Site, is around ten minutes by car. Golfers will be glad to know there is a golf course about eight kilometres away.
