Villa Can Gertrudis

Villa Can Gertrudis is a boutique house in the countryside just outside Santa Gertrudis, the village at the very centre of Ibiza. Set in fenced grounds with open country views, it is laid out as two buildings joined by a shaded patio, with an eleven by four metre pool at the heart of the garden.

This is a house made for family life. Children split their time between the pool, the lawn, the play area and the table tennis table, while adults claim a Balinese bed or a quiet hour in the yoga area. Lunch happens under the pergola, the barbecue comes out in the evening, and in spring or autumn the fire is lit once the sun has gone down.

Two houses around a patio

The main house opens into a lounge-style living room arranged in two areas: a long dining table on one side, and on the other a sofa corner gathered around the fireplace, with satellite TV and a home cinema sound system. Large windows bring plenty of natural light into the rooms. The well-equipped kitchen, with an American-style fridge, leads straight out to the patio, so meals move easily between inside and out.

The bedrooms are divided between the two buildings. The main house has double bedrooms sharing a bathroom with a shower, and the adjacent house holds the principal bedroom with its own en-suite toilet, alongside further double rooms and a shower room. The arrangement gives parents and children, or different generations of one family, their own quarters with the patio in between. Every bedroom has air conditioning, and there are ceiling fans throughout.

Garden, pool and outdoor living

The pool is lit for evening swims, with sun loungers and parasols around it and a pool cover, a practical detail for families with young children. Right beside it there is a full bathroom, so nobody needs to cross the house in wet swimwear. Further out, two gazebos, a Zen meditation garden, a playground and the lawn give everyone a space of their own.

Around the house, chill-out terraces, Balinese beds and lounge corners are set up for reading, conversation or an afternoon nap. The patio, under its pergola, holds a large dining table with the barbecue close at hand, and pool heating can be arranged on request.

Santa Gertrudis and the centre of the island

Santa Gertrudis is a few minutes away, and Ibiza Town, San Rafael and Santa Eulalia are all less than a ten-minute drive from the villa.

Made for families and retreats

The owners have set the villa up with families in mind, and the yoga area and the calm of the countryside also make it a natural fit for retreat groups. With a fireplace and central heating, it is just as comfortable outside high summer.
