Can Harley

Can Harley is a hilltop finca above San Antonio, and the house has stood here for around two hundred years. Stone walls, hardwood beams and traditional cement floors carry that age lightly, while a recent renovation has brought in the comforts a modern stay calls for without smoothing away the character.

A day here follows the sun. Mornings are cool under the beams, afternoons belong to the pool and the lawn, and in the evening everyone drifts out to the terraces as the light drops into the sea off Sant Antoni. From this hill you watch the sunset with open countryside on one side and the coast on the other.

Inside the old farmhouse

The rooms keep the proportions and materials of a traditional Ibicencan farmhouse: thick stone walls that hold the cool, beamed ceilings, floors laid the old way. The living areas open into one another, giving a group places to gather and corners to slip away to with a book. The bedrooms are spread through the house, each carefully furnished, and the main suite sits at the top of the tower with its own outdoor terrace looking out over the coastline.

Air conditioning takes care of high summer, and a fireplace with central heating keeps the house just as inviting in the shoulder months.

Terraces, pool and an outdoor kitchen

Landscaped terraces step down around the house. There is a pool lined with sunloungers, a garden and lawn, and an outdoor kitchen with barbecue beside the al fresco dining table, so long lunches and late dinners happen in the same place, under the same sky. A music system carries the evening along. The grounds are fenced, with private parking inside, and pets are welcome, which matters to anyone who travels with the family dog.

San Rafael and San Antonio

The finca lies close to the village of San Rafael and looks down over San Antonio, with easy access to the island's famous sunset beaches. A hire car is the way to make the most of the position.

Weddings, retreats and family summers

Can Harley suits families spanning several generations, groups of friends, couples and honeymooners, as well as retreats. Events, weddings and filming can be arranged with the owner, and a terrace facing the sunset gives any celebration its setting with very little added.
