Can Mira

Can Mira stands in the Ibizan countryside between San Lorenzo and Santa Gertrudis, a villa built stone by stone within a forest of ancient pines. The air carries the scent of resin, palms of every size rise among the pines, and bougainvillea adds a flash of fuchsia along the garden paths.

This is a house made for families, and it shows from the first morning. Children vanish towards the tree house or the football pitch and come back at lunchtime with stories to tell; the adults stay on the terrace with a coffee and no particular plan. As evening comes, everyone gathers again around the outdoor table.

Natural stone, well-travelled art and a kitchen to gather in

Soft, muted stone interiors form the backdrop for artwork and objects collected on travels far from the island. The large open-plan living, dining and kitchen area feels both spacious and intimate: a central island and generous work surfaces make family cooking easy, and large windows look out onto a wisteria-framed porch with the forest beyond. A deep L-shaped sofa with room for everyone and an open fireplace take over on cooler nights, with central heating and air conditioning covering every season.

Most of the bedrooms are in the main house, with a separate guesthouse adding privacy. The main bedroom has its own sitting room opening onto a terrace, another opens onto a balcony, and some have en-suite shower rooms.

Gardens, pool and a world of play

The grounds are Can Mira's real luxury: neatly kept lawns for walking barefoot, winding paths that lead deep between the trees, and shaded chill-out corners. There is a swimming pool, a barbecue and several al fresco dining areas. For children there is a football pitch, a tree house, a trampoline and an outdoor play area, with space for skateboarding or badminton too. The property is gated, with private parking. From the terraces the view runs over the treetops and open countryside, a green horizon that feels a world away, even though the coast is never far.

Santa Gertrudis and Santa Eulalia

Winding country roads lead in a few minutes to Santa Gertrudis, the social heart of the island's interior: organic grocers, artisan homeware shops and a café con leche on the square while the village goes by. Santa Eulalia, the beaches and Ibiza Town are all an easy drive.

Made for several generations

Can Mira is designed for families, including those travelling across generations, and it also welcomes retreats. The owners prefer to host families rather than groups of friends, and the house is shaped around exactly that.
