Every bedroom at Can Balena, a modern villa in the hills of Cap Martinet, looks out to the sea. It is the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing before the lights go off, and it sets the tone for a house built around views, calm and a very short drive into Ibiza Town.

Life here moves between several levels. Breakfast is on the broad upper terrace, afternoons drift between the infinity pool and the hammocks, and the day ends on the roof, stretched out on the daybed while the sea turns dark blue. Ibiza Town is five minutes away whenever dinner out sounds like a good idea.

Two floors that open to the view

The villa is arranged over two levels. The fully equipped kitchen flows into the living and dining area, which leads out to a large upper-floor terrace, the obvious spot for meals with a view. A separate TV room with comfortable seating and a music system gives the house a second living space, handy when children want a film while the adults stay outside.

Of the four bedrooms, the two doubles have en-suite bathrooms, while the twin rooms share a bathroom, a practical arrangement for families travelling with children. There is air conditioning, ceiling fans, central heating, a fireplace, fibre-optic internet and two safety boxes. With the fireplace and heating, the house is as comfortable in spring and autumn as it is in high summer.

Infinity pool, roof terrace and sauna

The infinity pool sits on a generous terrace overlooking the sea, with a barbecue area alongside and chill-out corners furnished with hammocks and Thai beds. Up on the roof terrace, a daybed and sun loungers are made for lazy afternoons in the sun and for stargazing later on, with music from the outdoor speakers. For cooler days, or simply to finish a day at the beach, there is a sauna.

The grounds are fenced, with an alarm and private parking.

Cap Martinet, between Talamanca and the town

Cap Martinet is one of the island's best neighbourhoods, quiet but close to the highlights. Talamanca beach and the beach at Es Estanyol are around five minutes away by car, as are the village of Jesús and Ibiza Town itself. It is the kind of location where dinner in town and a short drive home fit into the same easy evening.
